Patients will be initially invited to attend for a 20 minute examination and registration appointment.
We would request that you arrive at least 10 minutes early for your first appointment to enable you to have time to complete your NHS registration forms and a comprehensive medical and dental questionnaire.
We will ask you to provide us with details of your Doctor’s name and address and a full list of the medication you are currently taking, as these may affect your dental treatment. It is important that you fill out the medical history as accurately as you can. Therefore it may be helpful to bring a note of your medication and doctor’s details with you to the first visit.
You will then be invited through to the surgery to meet the dentist, who will discuss the medical questionnaire with you. Please let the dentist know of any concerns you have with your mouth or if there is anything you would like to change about your smile. The dentist will then tailor the dental exam to suit your individual needs.
During the dental exam, we will carry out a full check of your teeth, mouth and gums. This will include a check for any signs of mouth cancer and we will assess how healthy your gums are. We will also check your teeth for signs of decay and your current fillings for signs of wear. We will discuss our findings with you in the surgery and we will advise you of any further treatment you may require.
We may take x-rays of your mouth to help the dentist to develop your tailored treatment plan. We have a state of the art digital x-ray system at the Deveron Dental Surgery which uses a very low dose of radiation and is completely safe.
At the end of the exam, your dentist will prepare a detailed plan of treatment which will be tailored to suit your individual treatment needs. We will provide a written estimate of the costs involved and will discuss the plan with you in full.
If you have any questions or concerns at any stage, your dentist will be more than happy to listen.
