What is a veneer?
Veneers are usually made out of porcelain by a Dental Technician. You will need to visit us more than once to have a veneer made, it requires impressions being taken and it being sent off to the Technician to make.
A veneer is a thin layer of tooth coloured material that is put onto the front of the tooth to make it look better. You may wish to get a veneer if your tooth has been damaged by an accident or decay or you may just have a badly coloured tooth for some reason.
What are the benefits of a veneer?
Veneers hide imperfections and greatly improve your appearance. You lose very little natural tooth in the process of getting a veneer.
What will my Dentist do?
The Dentist will:
Check any fillings in the teeth first
A very small amount of natural tooth material needs to be removed (just enough to prevent the veneer making the tooth look or feel bulky)
The Dentist will need to use a putty like material to make a mould of your mouth.
The moulds are then sent to a dental technician so they can make the veneer.
Two weeks are left between the first appointment and getting the veneer fitted.
At the second appointment the veneer will get glued to your tooth.
